I do. As much as I don't like the idea of winter coming, fall is beautiful here in western Pennsylvania! We have a yard full of trees and shrubs and I can't help picking up certain spectacular leaves as I walk past. This year, I decided to do some art with them, with my 3 year old granddaughter who loves to create. We picked up several we liked -- be sure to let them chooseLK Hunsakerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10706929624587891992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2365480604000577670.post-77381872313975881642016-04-04T11:00:00.001-04:002016-04-04T11:02:26.207-04:00LK's Homemade Cheese Crackers
Anyone who has taken care of a toddler knows they tend to eat like mice, not much at a time, but constantly foraging. I've become somewhat of a health nut in the past few years, so while, when my own little ones needed a quick snack, I opened a box of crackers, still trying to stay on the healthier side of things, and thought I was doing well, I now search for better options as I can. Coloring eggs for Easter has always been a tradition for us, as for many families. I don't know about you, but I always think it's sad that those beautiful eggs don't last. So when I found fake eggs that didn't open to put goodies inside, but to dye into permanent colors, of course I grabbed them.Well ... they don't dye very well. But they do take paint very well!
I keep thinking I'll paint LK Hunsakerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10706929624587891992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2365480604000577670.post-69345210836180538942016-03-07T12:10:00.000-05:002016-03-07T12:10:03.929-05:00Your Brain on MusicLK Hunsakerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10706929624587891992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2365480604000577670.post-77038264636689141102015-03-07T18:33:00.001-05:002015-03-07T18:33:46.789-05:00Gail Trunick: Clay & Rust Gail Trunick - CLAY & RUST from Kevin DeOliveira on Vimeo. I met Connie through my sister and have worked with her on the cover of a still-to-come therapy book. Along with being an incredible indie artist, she’s a lovely person. I’m honored to have her here at Elucidations. LK: Hi Connie, let’s start with something fun. Beth, a trained artist, grabbed onto my love of nature with her vivid, artistic photography. As an amateur photo buff, I know it’s not easy to get nature to cooperate with the mechanics of a camera; you have to have the right angle, the right lighting, and the LK Hunsakerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10706929624587891992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2365480604000577670.post-19476113734595905182012-09-25T16:57:00.001-04:002012-09-25T17:04:38.335-04:00LK Designs for Cover ArtIn the future, Elucidations will highlight some of the best and brightest indie cover artists we find around the net. I do remember enjoying the conversation and her thoughts, so I picked up one of her books. I’m glad I did. The Old Mermaid’s Tale by Kathleen Valentine is hard to put down. It’s a beautiful coming of age story mixed with romance and recent history, accompanied by lush settings. I suggested it to my Facebook LK Hunsakerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10706929624587891992noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2365480604000577670.post-54353771693923897722012-01-24T17:00:00.001-05:002012-01-24T17:00:02.639-05:00Inspirations #1Where do you get your inspiration? That’s a question often asked of artists. It’s not always simple to answer, as it can be something as big as a major world event that’s all over the newspapers or as small as watching a couple argue and then hug and wondering about the story behind it.I’ve been working on a new artsy project: cover design. It’s not terribly new, since I’ve done all of my own (andLK Hunsakerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10706929624587891992noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2365480604000577670.post-14140783367649084712012-01-17T22:14:00.001-05:002012-01-17T22:14:38.819-05:00475 Hours (or.. authors, know thy craft!)On the average, it takes 475 hours to write a novel (bookstatistics.com).Of course that’s your average-sized novel and your averagely experienced writer. Size matters (in writing time, it does!) and so does experience. As I’ve progressed in my writing career, I see that it takes less and less time to create each new novel (averaging out by length). Does that mean I’m putting less effort into it? Indie = independent.
Independent = paying your own way, creating your own path
An indie author is an author putting her own work out, paying for the publishing and distribution of her books. She may get help with this, just as an independent business hires desk help, etc., but it’s LK Hunsakerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10706929624587891992noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2365480604000577670.post-30749880127521774452011-11-07T16:23:00.001-05:002011-11-07T16:23:40.561-05:00Music Interview: Adam’s Attic[This is an archived interview from the original Elucidations.us site, March 2008] Originally from New Orleans, Adam’s Attic is making waves in their new home base of Los Angeles. In November 2006, they ranked 28th out of the top 100 powerpop bands on Myspace.com. Not only have they performed shows at the Hard Rock Café and the Roxy, they sold out the House of Blues as the headlining act.
